Honoring Women

The Port Townsend Branch of AAUW presents the Woman of Excellence Award annually to an East Jefferson County woman who has contributed significantly to the status of women and girls through paid or volunteer work. Two plaques listing the names of honorees is on permanent display at the Port Townsend Library.

To be eligible, nominees must be a woman who has resided in Jefferson County for a minimum of three years. Nominees are evaluated on each of the following criteria:
1. Role Model: inspires and energizes women and girls.
2. Change Agent: increases opportunities and removes barriers for women and girls.
3. Teacher/Mentor: supports individual women and girls.
4. Community Activist: contributes directly and positively to the community.

Political Forums

In election seasons, Port Townsend AAUW hosts community candidate forums and issues forums to help voters obtain the indormation they need to make informed choices.
