Our Popular Tour Funds Local Scholarships & Educational Programs

Each spring for the past 11 years, the local branch of the American Association of University Women and the University Women's Foundation of Jefferson County have sponsored a highly regarded and enjoyable kitchen tour to raise money for local scholarships and community education projects. This year the 11th Annual Kitchen Tour was held in Cape George on Saturday, April 26, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

There were exciting designs to see in 2008 self-guided tour of 8 spectacular kitchens in private homes. For example, the kitchen of a 2007 home that is certified BuiltGreenTM was inspired by the 1840's Mississippi farmhouse kitchen of the owner's grandmother. Another kitchen wss a recent remodel influenced by the owner's arts and crafts antiques and earthenware collections, with floors of recycled old-growth, wide-fir planks from a whaling company warehouse on Lake Washington.
