The work of AAUW builds upon more than 130 years of responsible public participation. To learn more about AAUW's action priorities at the federal level, see the national AAUW website. Lobbying for Women Port Townsend AAUW members join members of other AAUW branches from throughout the state to participate in an annual state Lobby Day in Olympia. Members are briefed about pending bills so that they may be effective advocates as they meet with their elected representatives. Members interested in public policy issues can receive regular updates from AAUW on legislation affecting education and the general welfare of women and girls. Political Forums In election seasons, Port Townsend AAUW hosts community candidate forums and issues forums to help voters obtain the information they need to make informed choices. |
