Elmira K. Beyer Scholarship
- up to $8,000 Each year, AAUW Port Townsend, through its philanthropic organization, the University Women‘s Foundation of East Jefferson County, has offered a tuition scholarship to a woman working to complete an undergraduate or graduate degree. This endowed scholarship is given in memory of writer, musician, and exceptional leader Elmira K. Beyer, a founding member of the University Women‘s Foundation. Any woman may apply for the Elmira K. Beyer scholarship who has completed at least one full year of college at time of application, has maintained residence in East Jefferson County for at least the past two years, and is planning to seek a degree from a four-year college or university. The selection criteria include: educational and professional goals, financial need, and past academic performance. Download the Scholarship Application In 2012, the branch awarded $13,500 in scholarships to local women. Brianne Rowan received the Elmira K. Beyer scholarship award for tuition up to $7,500. Two academic scholarships of $1,500 each were given this year to women continuing college studies, Heidi Eisenhour and Khloe Frank. 2012 high school scholarships of $1,500 were presented to Hannah Lawson, Chimacum High School, and Emily Liao, Port Townsend High School. These scholarships are funded in part by the University Women's Foundation, our branch's non-profit philanthropic arm. |
